Kasson, MN—The Wildcats lost a 4-3 heartbreaker in OT to section 1A opponent Waseca on Thursday night, but bounced back to beat Red Wing 5-1 on Saturday night. In the Waseca game, the Wildcats outshot the Bluejays 48-25, but found themselves on the short end of the scoreboard. Brody Lamb (So., Byron) completed a hat trick at 8:23 of the third period to give Dodge County a 3-1 lead, but 27 seconds later, Waseca cut the lead to 3-2. Waseca then tied the game at 13:38 of the third and won it with just 32 seconds left in OT. The Wildcat defenders found themselves scrambling to keep up with Waseca skaters Jagger Johnson and Ben Priebe who created several break away opportunities. Waseca killed off 4 of 5 penalties including one in the overtime period.
At Four Seasons Arena on Saturday night, the Wildcats played a strong game on both ends of the ice to beat Red Wing 5-1. The Wildcats held Red Wing to 15 shots on goal and put up 33 shots on the Red Wing net minder. The Wildcats were led by Lamb and Brendon Wolesky (So., Byron) with two goals apiece. Jake Isaak (So., Byron) contributed a goal and assist.
The Wildcats (8-5) take on Rochester Lourdes (0-12) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7 at Graham Arena.
